We are looking for research experts with an experimental psychology and/or human factors background to join our team. You will lead research designed to understand the ideal experience, evaluate design concepts and prototypes, identify user needs, and provide informed design recommendations based on human factors & psychology principles and user experience data to improve medical devices, consumer products, web and software applications. Responsibilities include client management, project management, methods development, moderation, analysis and deliverable creation.

We're looking for full time candidates who have...

  • BS or BA in the areas of Cognitive, Behavioral, Experimental or Applied Psychology, Human Factors or Human Computer Interaction with at least 5 years of experience
  • MS or MA in the degrees listed above with at least 1-3 years of experience
  • Knowledge of usability research methods and qualitative data analysis techniques
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Interest in working in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong design sensitivity that enables you to provide strategic design recommendations as a result of user research and human factors expertise

Mechanical Engineer

Priority Designs is a 23-year-old product development company with Midwest roots, global reach and a wide range of clients. We’re different; a team of 50 with a flat company structure where geeks are welcomed, titles are not, egos are discouraged, foosball skills are revered, problem solvers who are constantly thinking are a must, and the ability to have fun and collaborate (often simultaneously) is required.

We are always looking for the right fit. Although we don't currently have a set timeline for an open position, the type of Mechanical Engineer we look for has the Dilbert “knack” (if you have it, you know it;, Dilbert: the knack). Your degree is second to your ability to think creatively and solve complex problems. Are you always curious? Do you love taking things apart, rebuilding and making them better? Do you repeat this over and over again because you thought of one more way to do it….better….for the 10th time. If so, you might be the right fit.

You would join our growing team of talented engineers and designers to cleverly solve, develop, model and prepare concepts for prototyping and production. Our projects are dynamic and ever changing. You could be the only engineer on one project while balancing, at the same time, another project involving heavy collaboration with other designers and engineers.

  • Desire and ability to develop innovative and unique mechanisms. ( “The Knack”; we’re looking for it, and you must have it)
  • Mechanical Engineering degree and excellent understanding of engineering principles
  • Self-motivated and flexible. Willing to learn new things.
  • Appreciation of relationship between industrial design and engineering. Passionate about how things look.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD. FEA and surfacing skills a plus. Hand sketching skills also a plus.
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing production processes (e.g. injection molding, stamping, extruding, machining)
  • Willingness and ability to quickly build breadboard models to prove concepts. Our model shop is large and our in-house prototyping capabilities are extensive.
  • Electromechanical packaging and system development a plus.
  • Experience and knowledge in medical device design a plus.
