PROJECT: 3D CAD modeling & computer renderings of faucets.
CLIENT: American Standard
There are occasions when a sketch isn’t realistic enough.
Being able to see what a design looks like with true-to-life colors
and textures allows our clients to evalute their product design easier. For example, American Standard
really appreciates evaluating complex faucet surfaces rendered in
photo-realistic chrome and placed in a virtual kitchen or bath. For
them, we build the initial computer models in 3D CAD environments using either Pro-Engineer or SolidWorks. Then we create renderings using the
latest tools available, such as Autodesk’s Maya.
Thanks to the high level of realism that we can achieve, our computer renderings
have been used in focus groups and market testing to evaluate design
direction. Additionally, the renderings are used to test additional
color schemes before the final product hits the shelves.
Using these processes we've helped save
American Standard significant time and cost throughout the development
process.
