SERVICE: Hand sculpted prototypes
In addtion to our other services we
sculpt some models and prototypes purely by hand. When Hewi wanted to make prototype door
handles for a movie theater chain, they asked for our help. The design
called for a set of comedy and tragedy masks atop a strip of film.
To make them, we hand-sculpted each design in lightweight foam and
then cast them in urethane resin which were painted and presented to the theater chain for approval. In the age of computers and rapid
prototyping it’s not easy to find a prototyping shop that can
also create these kinds of sculptures. Hewi was glad to discover that
we could.
Other uses for sculpting include; action figure and toy prototypes, collectibles, and maquettes.
