SERVICE: Observational
research for new product development
CLIENT: Mead
Mead asked us to conduct observational research on children ages 8-13 and look for opportunities
to design new product innovations for this age group. To get a better understanding
of the kids, we went right to the source. At middle schools, we interviewed
kids about what they like and don’t like about their current
binders. We observed how the kids hold their books, throw stuff in
their lockers and use their binders in classrooms. We observed what they carried and why.
The insights we gained from this observational research led us to design several new innovative products for Mead that were highly sucessful in the marketplace.
