PROJECT: World Link Telecommunications Portal

When the high-end chain of Intercontinental Hotels asked Degnen Associates to address its new identity design program, they tapped Priority Designs for assistance in the design and development of the World Link.

The World Link aids international business travelers by making it easy to connect their laptops to a reliable power source and gain access to broadband internet. The unit’s design had to convey use through self-evident icons, and required refined aesthetics appropriate for vastly different upscale hotel interiors. Therefore, the power plug was designed with a "wrap and park" configuration that includes a simple icon to identify its purpose. More non-lingual prompts include symbols for other connections. The portal represents one of several guest touch points that bring value to Intercontinental Hotels.

Our contributions to this project included 2-D and 3-D concept development, 3D CAD modeling, prototyping, and engineering.
