CLIENT: Kobalt Tools (2007)

PROJECT: Welding helmet design and engineering.

In addition to the other tools we've designed for Lowe's brand of Kobalt Tools, they also asked us to help them design this welding helmet.

Lowe's wanted the styling of the helmet to be consistent with other Kobalt branded tools. Using the Kobalt Visual Brand Language Guide we created for Lowe's as a reference we applied signature details to give it a recognizable Kobalt look. To make it just a little more special we also applied flame graphics inspired by hot rod and chopper culture. Other features include an auto darkening shade and an easy to use system for size adjustment.

By defining color, textures, logo usage and styling cues we helped bring a consistent look to Lowe's tools and a recognizable point of difference from their competitors.

Our contributions to this project included research, strategy, 2-D and 3-D design development, 3D CAD modeling & engineering and prototyping.
