Shane has a background in user-centered design with 20+ years of experience in human factors engineering for product development. This includes usability engineering for medical devices to support FDA approvals and conducting human factors assessments of systems for military and defense applications.

At Priority Designs, he applies human factors and usability engineering methods to the product development process. These methods promote efficient, safe, and effective use by the intended users. He enjoys learning about the unique needs and perspectives of users, and applying that knowledge to enhance their interactions with products.

In his free time, Shane spends time with his wife and sons, and their super cuddly Bernese mountain dog, Molly. You can often find him fishing, watching wildlife, following hockey, and diving into genealogical research about his Dutch-Canadian heritage.
